With it’s evolution from the former Blacktail Florist to Blacktail, this culinary destination is now driven by the ever so creative Chef Geoff Rogers. I was in for lunch with my friend Danica to share some dishes and I was delighted from start to finish. Chef Rogers is no doubt passionate and full of creativity, each dish was inspiring from one level to another.
We had the beautiful Cured & Candied BC Salmon ($18) with salmon crisps, creme fraiche, smoked salmon, and everything bagel spice to start; followed by the unique and heavenly, Duck & Waffles ($16.50) with fois gras & duck liver mousse on an amaranth waffle with candied apple and dried brown butter powder! I loved the Chive Gnudi ($16) with basil pesto, Swiss chard, cherry tomato; rounding out our lunch was the stellar Heritage Angus Beef Cheese Burger ($17), the meat was cooked by sous-vide, and I loved the aged white cheddar beer cheese and house baked brioche bun.
The kitchen closed before I had a chance to order dessert and since almost everyone who knows me, knows that surely after a creative inspiring meal, dessert is something that I crave, I’m looking forward to returning to not only try their dinner menu but most importantly indulge in some of the desserts.
